School Catering at Holy Trinity
Bringing Our Catering In-House
We are really pleased to have brought our school catering provision in-house at Holy Trinity.
One of the main reasons for making this change was that we wanted to get back to fresh, home-cooked food and have greater control over the food we provide for our pupils.
Our kitchen is led by Mr Riley, our Head of School Operations, who has many years of experience running school kitchens, as well as experience through his own catering company. He is supported by our fantastic catering team, Mrs Dolman, Assistant Catering Co-Ordinator, and Miss Yeung, Catering Assistant.
The team works hard each day to provide food that is nutritious, hearty and tasty, while also making lunchtime an enjoyable part of the school day.
Listening to Our Children
Our pupils are at the centre of what we do, and this includes our catering.
Before we make changes to our menus, we seek the views of our children. We want to know what they enjoy, what they would like to see more of and, just as importantly, what they would like us to try.
We also hold regular food tasting experiences, giving children the opportunity to try different foods and share their thoughts with us. This helps us develop our menus around the children we are actually serving.
Our menus are not set in stone. We regularly make small changes and introduce new dishes to keep things interesting and give children the opportunity to discover something new.
Our Three-Week Rolling Menu
We currently operate a three-week rolling menu, with a mixture of traditional favourites, popular children's choices and dishes that encourage pupils to try something different.
Alongside the main meal each day, children can also choose from Jacket Potatoes, Sandwiches, Baguettes or Paninis.
We also provide fresh salad and fresh bread every day.
We believe that offering a wider choice gives more children the opportunity to enjoy a school meal, whether they prefer a traditional hot dinner, a jacket potato, a sandwich or something they have not tried before.
Our current menus can be viewed below.
Special Menu Days
During 2026 we are also introducing Special Menu Days.
These will give us the chance to do something a little different and introduce pupils to foods and flavours they may not normally choose.
We want to encourage our children to be curious about food and to feel confident trying something new. Our regular tasting sessions help us understand what they think and whether a new dish could become part of our menu in the future.
Allergy Awareness and Keeping Children Safe
The safety of our pupils is incredibly important to us.
Holy Trinity is committed to Allergy Awareness, and as of September 2026, all members of staff across the school have received allergy awareness training.
We have also introduced a new Orange Band as part of our lunchtime system.
Where a child has an allergy, they will wear the Orange Band alongside the coloured band showing their chosen food option. This gives our kitchen team an additional, clear visual reminder that the child has an allergy and that additional care is required when preparing and serving their food. It also supports us in reducing the risk of an allergic reaction and keeping our pupils safe when eating in school.
A 5-Star Food Hygiene Rating
We are also very proud of the standards achieved by our catering team since bringing the service in-house.
Following our Environmental Health Officer (EHO) inspection, our kitchen was awarded a 5-Star Food Hygiene Rating.
For us, this is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the hard work that goes into maintaining high standards in our kitchen every day.
We will continue to review our catering provision, listen to our children and look for ways to improve the food and choices we offer.
Take a Look at Our Menus
We would encourage families to have a look at our current menus below and see what is being served over the three-week cycle.
We are really proud of the direction our catering provision is taking and, most importantly, we are enjoying seeing our children try new foods, share their opinions and enjoy lunchtime.
