At Holy Trinity, we want children to have a wide range of experiences during their time with us, both in and beyond the classroom.
Our 11 by 11 Promise sets out eleven experiences that we believe every child should have the opportunity to take part in before they leave primary school.
The idea is simple: as children move from Reception to Year 6, we want them to try new things, discover interests and talents, become more independent and learn more about the community and wider world around them.
During their time at Holy Trinity, children will have opportunities to:
Perform for an audience
Taking part in performances, presentations, music, drama or other opportunities to build confidence in front of others.
Create something to share
Producing and sharing creative work that children can take pride in.
Have an outdoor adventure
Experiencing outdoor learning, physical challenges and opportunities that develop teamwork and independence.
Protect our planet
Taking practical action to care for the environment and understand our responsibility towards it.
Make a difference
Contributing to the school or local community and helping others through charity, volunteering or social action.
Represent our school
Taking responsibility and representing Holy Trinity through sport, music, leadership, competitions, performances or community events.
Discover our heritage
Learning more about Burton upon Trent, our local area and the people, places and events that have shaped it.
Experience another culture
Learning directly about different cultures, faiths, traditions and ways of life.
Journey beyond my everyday world
Visiting unfamiliar places and having experiences that take children beyond what they encounter in their everyday lives.
Meet people who inspire me
Meeting people with different jobs, skills and experiences so that children can learn more about the opportunities available to them in the future.
Achieve something I once found difficult
Taking on a personal challenge, sticking with it and recognising the progress they have made.
The 11 by 11 Promise is not a list of eleven trips that children complete and tick off.
We have planned the experiences across the school so that they develop as children get older.
In Reception, the focus is on discovering new experiences. In Key Stage 1, children begin to explore more widely. In Years 3 and 4, they are encouraged to challenge themselves. By Years 5 and 6, we want children to take greater responsibility and have opportunities to lead.

This means that an outdoor adventure, for example, might begin with exploring the school grounds and building a den in the early years. As children get older, this could develop into orienteering, outdoor challenges and more independent adventurous activities.
In the same way, 'making a difference' might begin with helping within the classroom and develop into older pupils planning and leading a project that benefits other people.
We want the 11 by 11 Promise to be something all of our children can take part in.
We know that children have different needs and circumstances, so the exact experience will not always look the same for everyone. We will consider accessibility, additional needs, cost and other potential barriers when activities are planned.
The important thing is that every child has the opportunity to take part in meaningful experiences and to be challenged appropriately.

The experiences give children practical opportunities to use these values.
They may need courage to perform in front of other people, perseverance to complete a difficult challenge, responsibility when representing the school, respect when learning about another culture, kindness when helping their community and togetherness when working as part of a team.
Children's experiences outside school can vary considerably. School therefore has an important role in making sure that all children have opportunities to experience things they may not otherwise encounter.
We want our pupils to know their local area, experience arts and culture, spend time outdoors, contribute to their community, meet different people, visit new places and find out about the range of possibilities available to them.
Some experiences will be big and memorable. Others will be quite simple. Both matter.
By the time our children leave Holy Trinity, we hope the 11 by 11 Promise will have helped them become more confident, curious, independent and willing to have a go at something new.
