Governing Board
Welcome to the Governor Information Page
Governance
As governors of Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School, we are custodians not only of academic excellence and safeguarding, but also of the Christian ethos that underpins all we do. Our role is to support and challenge the school’s leadership, ensuring that every child flourishes academically, spiritually, and personally within a nurturing environment shaped by our Christian vision and values.
We have a significant responsibility, but also a great privilege: to work together in partnership with children, staff, parents, the Church, and wider community to help our school grow and thrive.
Our Purpose
Whilst protecting and promoting the school’s Christian distinctiveness, we
- Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- Hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of Holy Trinity and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
- Oversee the financial performance of Holy Trinity and make sure money is well spent.
Our Governing Body
Our Governing Body comprises eleven people with a blend of perspectives to produce a balanced team:
- 3 Foundation Governors appointed by Lichfield Diocese to uphold the school’s Christian ethos
- 2 Parent Governors elected by parents and carers
- 1 Staff Governor elected by school staff
- 1 Headteacher Governor (ex-officio)
- 1 Local Authority Governor appointed by Staffordshire Local Authority
- 3 Co-opted Governors elected by the Governing Body for their skills and experience.
Each governor serves for a term of three years; all members are expected to abide by the NGA Governors’ Code of Conduct and have signed to this effect.
Meetings and Committees
We have three Full Governing Board meetings per academic year, as well as another three joint committee meetings; all governors serve together on this joint committee.
Governors also support our school through other activities by:
- spending time in school meeting the children
- conducting learning walks
- attending parents’ evenings
- undertaking appropriate training
- attending additional meetings when necessary
- assisting with the appointment of new members of staff.
Volunteering as a school governor is an excellent way to give back to your local community, so if you would like to find out more or are interested in joining us when there is a vacancy, please get in touch.
