Behaviour

At Holy Trinity School, we believe that positive behaviour is fundamental to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils feel valued, respected, and supported to succeed.

We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and that all children bring different experiences, needs, and strengths. Our approach to behaviour is therefore rooted in understanding, fairness, and high expectations for all, underpinned by strong relationships and a culture of care.

We promote positive behaviour by explicitly teaching expectations, modelling kindness and respect, and celebrating effort, progress, and achievement. Clear routines, consistent responses, and calm adult behaviour help children to feel secure and confident in their learning environment.

We are committed to inclusion and equity. Reasonable adjustments are made to support pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, or those who may be experiencing difficulties beyond school. Behaviour strategies are individualised where necessary and developed in partnership with pupils, families, and external professionals.

We use restorative approaches to support children in understanding the impact of their behaviour, repairing relationships, and developing emotional regulation, self-control, and resilience. Sanctions are used sparingly, proportionately, and always alongside support, reflection, and opportunities to learn and improve.

We believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are essential. We work collaboratively with families to support positive behaviour and well-being, ensuring communication is open, respectful, and focused on the best interests of the child.

All staff share responsibility for promoting positive behaviour and well-being. Adults are expected to act as positive role models, responding to behaviour consistently, calmly, and with compassion.

Our behavioural principles reflect our commitment to safeguarding, equality, dignity, and respect. Through our approach, we aim to develop confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals who are prepared for life beyond primary school and who understand the importance of kindness, forgiveness, and mutual respect.
