Wellbeing: My Happy Mind

In 2025, we achieved Silver Accreditation for myHappymind, reflecting the way the programme has become embedded within everyday life at our school.

Our children take part in my Happymind every week. These sessions give them regular time to think about their wellbeing and develop an understanding of how their brains work, their emotions, their individual strengths and the relationships they have with others.

The programme is organised around five areas: Meet Your Brain, Celebrate, Appreciate, Relate and Engage. Through these, children gradually build their understanding of themselves and learn practical strategies that can support them when they experience different emotions, relationships or challenges.

Importantly, this learning does not sit separately from the rest of school life. myHappymind is interwoven throughout our wider approach to wellbeing. Staff use and reinforce the language and strategies children learn during everyday conversations, classroom activities, assemblies and pastoral support.

Over time, this creates a shared language across the school. Children might draw on their understanding of how their brain responds to emotions, recognise their own character strengths, practise gratitude, think about what makes a positive relationship, or use strategies they have learned when something feels difficult.

Our Silver Accreditation recognises the progress we have made in embedding this approach. We continue to use myHappymind as one part of our wider provision for supporting children's mental health, emotional wellbeing and personal development, helping them develop skills and understanding that they can use both in school and in their everyday lives.
