Intent

At Holy Trinity CE (C) Primary School, every child is recognised as a unique individual and we are committed to ensuring that all pupils feel valued, included, and supported to achieve their full potential. We believe that all children should have access to a high quality and ambitious education, regardless of need or disability. Our aim is to remove barriers to learning and ensure that every pupil can access the full breadth of the curriculum, develop independence, and grow in confidence.

We identify pupils with SEND at the earliest opportunity and respond through high quality teaching and appropriate support, ensuring that progress and opportunities are maximised. All pupils are supported to access a broad and balanced curriculum, with teaching adapted to enable children to understand and engage with their learning. We provide a learning environment that is accessible and responsive to individual needs and supports pupils to develop independence and important life skills.

Our Ordinarily Available Provision document clearly outlines the range of strategies, adaptations, and support that pupils with SEND can expect through quality first teaching at Holy Trinity CE (C) Primary School. This ensures that support is consistent across all classes and that pupils’ needs are met effectively within the classroom.

We regularly monitor the progress of pupils with SEND using a pupil centred approach and provide high quality training for staff to ensure they are confident in supporting a range of needs. We work closely in partnership with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure that provision is effective and responsive.

Implementation

At Holy Trinity CE (C) Primary School, every teacher is a teacher of SEND, and inclusion is at the heart of our practice. Pupils with SEND are fully included in all aspects of school life and are supported through high quality teaching that is adapted to meet their individual needs. Their contributions are valued, and they are supported to develop confidence and independence.

The Ordinarily Available Provision document supports teachers in providing effective classroom strategies such as adapting teaching approaches, using visual supports, providing scaffolding, and ensuring structured routines. Where additional support is required, pupils may receive targeted intervention through small group or individual support. Some pupils may also receive additional support for communication, social, emotional, or speech and language development.

The SENDCo works closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure that support is appropriate, effective, and regularly reviewed.

Impact

As a result of our SEND provision at Holy Trinity CE (C) Primary School, pupils feel supported, included, and valued. They are able to access learning alongside their peers and participate fully in school life. Pupils with SEND make progress from their individual starting points due to high quality teaching, appropriate adaptations, and targeted support.

Over time, pupils develop independence, confidence, and resilience, and are well prepared for the next stage of their education. Our clear and consistent use of Ordinarily Available Provision ensures that support is embedded within everyday teaching and enables all pupils to achieve their potential.
